The Colourpoint Society of Great Britain is a cat club for the advancement of Colourpoints and co-operation
between the members.
About
the Breed:
The longhaired colourpoint is a Persian, with a large, short, heavy body
that is low to the ground. They are one of the most popular Persian colours with its distinctive 'pointed'
coat pattern and beautiful blue eyes.
The Colourpoint breed was developed by breeding Persians to Siamese
to combine the Siamese point colouring with Persian type. Offspring were bred back to Persians to keep the Persian
look while maintaining the colour points.
The existence of the Colourpoints is largely attributed
to the British Cat Fancy when in 1955 Britain's Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) was the first organisation
in the world to recognise this new breed.
